Peer Support Services in Concord, NC

Support from People Who’ve Walked the Path

At Phila Health Systems of North Carolina, we believe healing happens best when it’s rooted in connection, trust, and shared experience. Our Peer Support Services (PSS) are delivered by Certified Peer Support Specialists (CPSS)—individuals in long-term recovery from mental health or substance use challenges who are professionally trained to support others on their journey.

If you’re seeking someone who understands what you’re going through—not just in theory, but from lived experience—our peer support team is here to walk alongside you with hope, compassion, and practical tools for recovery.

What Are Peer Support Services?

Peer Support Services are one-on-one or group-based sessions led by certified individuals who have successfully navigated their own recovery journey. These services are focused on:
  • Empowerment and personal goal setting
  • Emotional support and connection
  • Recovery skills and life planning
  • Reducing isolation and building confidence
  • Encouraging independence and self-advocacy
Peer support can be offered on its own or alongside other mental health or substance use services such as outpatient therapy, SAIOP, or case management.

Why Peer Support Matters

Peer Support Specialists offer a unique kind of support that traditional clinical roles may not provide. They serve as mentors, motivators, and bridges to community resources. Because they’ve faced similar struggles, they can offer encouragement without judgment and guidance grounded in real-world experience.

Who Benefits from PSS?

  • Individuals starting their recovery journey
  • People transitioning out of intensive treatment
  • Clients needing day-to-day encouragement and structure
  • Anyone feeling isolated or unsure about how to move forward
  • Those seeking a supportive, relatable guide

Our Philosophy of Recovery

At Phila Health Systems, our Peer Support Specialists are an integral part of our recovery model. We believe in this guiding principle: “Pray as if everything depends on God; work as if everything depends on you.” Through Peer Support, we help individuals take ownership of their recovery, find meaning in their journey, and connect to a greater sense of purpose—spiritually, emotionally, and socially.
